Whitley Bay – Whitley Bay’s Spanish City at Low Tide

Whitley Bays Spanish City is an iconic building on the North East coast, sadly ten years of local authority involvement, millions spent on grant aid, and it still is not finished. Part of the decaying grandeur of times past, of days before package holidays, of days when local young men brought their girl friends to Whitley Bay, to thrill them on the Spanish City Fairground, go on the Waltzter, a bag of chips for sustenance, the helter skelter to round off the day, with the obligatory ice cream, to compliment the greasy fish and chips.
