Whitley Bay has had a cafe on Watts Slope in Whitley Bay for the past 149 years with unrivalled views of the famous Bay Beaches, and of course a wonderful view of St Mary’s Lighthouse. North Tyneside Counci, l who have spent millions over the last 20 year with the promise of finally refurbishing the famous Spanish City building, claims that the Boardwalk cafe is to be demolished to improve the view. A view apparently shared by North Tynesides Mayor, a member of the controlling North Tyneside Labour Party. Residents of Whitley Bay are shocked to lose the much loved Boardwalk Cafe, a favourite meeting place on the beach. Close the Boardwalk Cafe North Tyneside Council? What an insult, the view from this famous cafe in Whitley Bay is arguably one if the finest views on the North East Coast, of St Mary’s Lighthouse and wonderful beaches.
Instead of North Tyneside Council wasting even more money on the crumbling Spanish CIty, what finer inspirational building could you have for an artists colony? A Yoga Retreat? A Yoga and Health Food Centre.
whitley Bay Residents are appalled, surely the elected North Tyneside Mayor, Nora Redfearn, and north Tyneside Council will listen to the voices of the electorate.
